KUALA TERENGGANU, August 29 2026, A total of 100 participants took part in the Persatuan Solidariti Nasional (PerSoNa) Terengganu Merdeka 2026 briskwalk programme at Teluk Ketapang today.
PerSoNa Terengganu chairman Wan Salmah Wan Hamat said the programme, held in collaboration with the Teluk Ketapang Federal Village Development and Security Committee (JKKKP) and Komuniti Sihat Perkasa Negara (KOSPEN), was not merely a recreational activity but carried a broader message of fostering a healthy, united and patriotic community.
She said it also served as a platform to strengthen ties between PerSoNa members and the local community through the distribution of food baskets to selected senior citizens and asnaf.
“PerSoNa wants this programme to continue serving as a platform to foster bonds, nurture patriotism and bring members of the organisation closer to the community.
“For us, the spirit of Merdeka is not expressed merely by waving the Jalur Gemilang, but also through togetherness, helping one another and caring for the community,” she said in a statement today.
Wan Salmah said apart from the brisk walk, the programme also featured the presentation of the Jalur Gemilang to participants and members of the local community as a symbolic gesture of patriotism in conjunction with the National Month celebration.
She said the participation of the local community in the programme demonstrated that recreational activities could serve as an effective medium for bringing people together regardless of background.
