Tencent Cloud Expands AI Agent Solutions to Indonesia, Targets Enterprise AI Adoption

JAKARTA, July 15 — Tencent Cloud, the cloud computing arm of global technology company Tencent, has expanded its international suite of artificial intelligence (AI) agent solutions into Indonesia as businesses in the country accelerate digital transformation and AI adoption. The announcement was made during Tencent Cloud’s AI Executive Day summit in Jakarta, which gathered more than 150 enterprise leaders, technology executives and industry partners to discuss the practical use of AI agents in business operations, including workplace productivity, creative production, enterprise automation and access to advanced AI models. Tencent Cloud said the expansion aims to help Indonesian companies move beyond traditional chatbot applications and content generation by deploying AI agents capable of planning, executing and automating complex multi-step tasks. According to a recent industry study, 57 per cent of Indonesian enterprises identified AI as their top priority for the year ahead, while 66 per cent indicated plans to increase their focus on agentic AI technologies. At the summit, Tencent Cloud introduced several AI-powered solutions, including Tencent WorkBuddy, an agent-based workplace productivity platform designed to help employees complete tasks through simple instructions. The platform allows users to assign AI agents to perform activities such as market research, data analysis and visual reporting, while accessing specialised AI “Experts” in areas including finance, law and marketing. It also supports integration with different large language models through APIs and enables remote workflow management via platforms such as Discord, Slack and Telegram. Tencent said WorkBuddy has gained significant adoption in China, recording more than 8.85 million monthly active users within its first month after launch. The company also showcased Tencent Design Miora, an AI-powered creative studio designed for designers, content creators and marketing professionals. The platform uses persistent memory technology to maintain brand consistency and allows users to generate creative assets including graphics, videos, 3D designs and user interface materials from a single natural-language instruction. In addition, Tencent Cloud introduced TokenHub, its Model-as-a-Service platform that enables enterprises to access multiple large language models through a centralised API gateway. The solution helps businesses manage AI model usage, optimise costs and improve performance through flexible token allocation. Tencent Cloud Vice President and Vice President of APAC at Tencent Cloud International, Jimmy Chen, said Indonesian businesses were increasingly shifting from AI experimentation towards practical implementation. “Indonesian enterprises are increasingly looking to move from AI experimentation to real adoption. With agents like WorkBuddy and Miora, we help local organisations shift execution-heavy work to AI, allowing teams to focus on smarter decisions and innovation,” he said. Chen added that Tencent Cloud remained committed to supporting Indonesian companies in modernising operations, adopting AI technologies and expanding globally. Strengthening Digital Transformation Across Indonesia Beyond AI solutions, Tencent Cloud highlighted its ongoing partnerships with Indonesian companies across telecommunications, digital platforms and financial services sectors. One of the key collaborations highlighted during the summit was its partnership with XLSMART, where Tencent Cloud supported the telecommunications operator’s large-scale cloud transformation. During a panel session, XLSMART Director and Chief Information Technology Officer Yessie D. Yosetya discussed how the company modernised its operations using Tencent Cloud infrastructure while maintaining uninterrupted services for millions of customers. Yessie said the transformation enabled XLSMART to improve operational efficiency, accelerate innovation and strengthen its ability to scale future digital services. “With Tencent Cloud, we consolidated onto a modern cloud foundation with zero downtime and put AI to work across the project. That gives us a base to keep innovating on, and the confidence to scale for what comes next,” she said. Tencent Cloud also revealed its support for GoTo, Indonesia’s largest digital ecosystem, in one of the region’s major cloud migration projects involving the movement of more than 1,000 on-demand services onto a more scalable and resilient cloud platform. In the financial services sector, Tencent Cloud provides database solutions such as TDSQL to support banks including Bank Neo Commerce, helping them manage large-scale customer operations. Its electronic Know Your Customer (eKYC) solutions are also being used by financial institutions such as Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) to enable remote customer verification and strengthen fraud prevention measures. Meanwhile, Tencent Cloud’s content delivery network supports digital wallet provider DANA in delivering faster and more reliable services nationwide, while companies such as Telkomsel are using Tencent Cloud’s AI capabilities for content generation and palm-based verification technology. Tencent Cloud currently operates a global infrastructure network covering 66 availability zones across 23 markets and regions, including three availability zones in Indonesia. The company said it will continue expanding its presence in Indonesia by supporting local enterprises with secure cloud infrastructure and practical AI solutions to help businesses grow domestically and compete internationally. -- MINUTESMY

10 Commercial Vehicle Drivers Test Positive For Drugs – Pahang JPJ

TEMERLOH, July 15 -- Ten of the 351 commercial vehicle drivers screened by the Pahang Road Transport Department (JPJ) during its Integrated Anti-Drug Operation at 10 strategic locations across the state since July 1 have tested positive for drugs. Pahang JPJ director Syed Ahmad Khirulanwar Alyahya Syed Abdul Rahman said the operation, now into its 14th day, focused on drivers of commercial, public service and tourism vehicles. He added that it was carried out in collaboration with the National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK), the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD), the Computerised Vehicle Inspection Centres (PUSPAKOM), highway concessionaires and the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture. “So far, the 10 drug positive cases detected involved heavy vehicle drivers aged between 29 and 55. “Action against them was taken according to the jurisdiction of AADK, while JPJ has suspended their Goods Driving Licences (GDLs) pending investigations before further action is taken under the relevant laws,” he told a media conference at the Temerloh Rest and Service (R&R) areas here yesterday. He said that of the 10 operation locations, five cases were detected at the Temerloh R&R, with two each at the Benta Enforcement Station (SPK) and Paloh Hinai SPK, as well as one at the Maran SPK. He added that most of the drug abuse cases among drivers involved were methamphetamine and the main factor in taking it was suspected to be to boost energy levels and maintain focus while driving. “These findings prove the need for continuous enforcement operations to ensure that only drivers who are actually qualified, possess integrity and are free from drug abuse are allowed to operate commercial vehicles on public roads,” he said. He said checks also revealed that one of the drivers who tested positive for drugs had a record of 42 JPJ summonses, all of which had been settled, while another had 11 summonses and several others had between one and nine summonses. He added that the records showed that some drivers are repeat offenders, which is a matter of concern for the authorities even though all the summonses have been settled. -- BERNAMA

Hilir Perak district police chief ACP Chua Kok Lian said the operation, conducted in collaboration with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), successfully uncovered the illegal cryptocurrency mining activities. Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Navy, US Forces Exchange Fire In Strait Of Hormuz

ISTANBUL, July 15 -- Iran’s state television reported early Wednesday that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy and United States (US) forces exchanged fire in the Strait of Hormuz, Anadolu Ajansi reported. Iran’s semi-official Tasnim News Agency, citing authorities in Hormozgan province, said explosions heard in Bandar Abbas, coastal cities and Iranian islands were caused by clashes in the strait. Mehr News Agency also said explosions heard east of Sirik were linked to exchanges of fire in nearby Gulf waters. The reports came amid a fresh wave of explosions across several locations in southern Iran as the military confrontation between Iran and the US intensified. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said it had launched another round of strikes against Iran, targeting what it described as capabilities used to attack commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. CENTCOM later said that US forces had resumed a naval blockade of vessels transiting to and from Iranian ports and coastal areas. It added that more than 20 US Navy warships and hundreds of military aircraft were operating across West Asia, saying American forces remained “vigilant, lethal and ready”. Tensions have escalated between the US and Iran over the Strait of Hormuz in recent days, with the two sides exchanging attacks despite a Pakistani-mediated memorandum of understanding aimed at ending their conflict and reaching a lasting peace agreement. -- BERNAMA-ANADOLU

Spain Beat France 2-0 to Reach 2026 FIFA World Cup Final

ARLINGTON, Texas, July 15 — Spain secured a place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final after producing a composed 2-0 victory over France in their semi-final clash at Dallas Stadium. La Roja delivered a disciplined display to halt France's bid for a third straight World Cup final appearance, controlling the match from start to finish. Spain took the lead in the 22nd minute when Mikel Oyarzabal calmly converted a penalty after teenage star Lamine Yamal was fouled inside the box. The opening goal allowed Luis de la Fuente's men to dictate the tempo, limiting France's attacking opportunities with an organised and resilient defensive performance. France attempted to respond through captain Kylian Mbappe and several attacks from the flanks, but Didier Deschamps' side struggled to break down Spain's well-drilled backline. Spain doubled their advantage in the 58th minute as Pedro Porro finished off a well-worked move following an incisive pass from Dani Olmo. Lamine Yamal thought he had added a third goal moments later, but his effort was ruled out for offside after a VAR review. Despite introducing fresh attacking options, France failed to find a way back into the contest. Mbappe came closest for Les Bleus on several occasions, but Spain goalkeeper Unai Simon produced a series of crucial saves to preserve his clean sheet. The victory sends Spain into their first World Cup final since lifting the trophy in 2010 and keeps alive their hopes of becoming world champions for the second time. Spain will now face the winner of the second semi-final between England and Argentina in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final. -- ASTRO AWANI

2,688 manufacturing sector investment projects worth RM318.5 billion realised – MITI

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 2,688 investment projects in the manufacturing sector have been realised with a value of RM318.5 billion for the period 2023 to March 2026, according to the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI). The ministry explained that of the total, the value of domestic investments was RM63.3 billion (19.9 percent) while foreign investments amounted to RM255.2 billion (80.1 percent), with the implementation of the project having created 210,546 job opportunities. "The MADANI government, through MITI and MIDA (Malaysian Investment Development Authority), is always committed to ensuring that approved investments can be realised at a high rate and within a reasonable period of time. "This will contribute to economic spillover effects, including business opportunities and the creation of highly skilled jobs for the people," added MITI in a written response to the Dewan Rakyat posted on the Parliament website on Tuesday. MITI informed that for investments that are realised, approved projects typically take between 18 to 24 months to implement, subject to the complexity and scale of the project as well as the current economic situation. The five states that recorded the highest realized investment value, namely Penang, Kedah, Selangor, Johor and Negeri Sembilan, represented 84.3 percent of the total realized investments for the period 2023 to March 2026, the ministry explained. According to MITI, a total of 3,847 investment projects worth RM427.9 billion have been approved for the period 2023 to March 2026, with investments in the manufacturing sector expected to create 302,058 new job opportunities. Of the total investments, the value of domestic investments amounted to RM93.9 billion (21.9 percent), while foreign investments amounted to RM334.0 billion (78.1 percent), he added. The five states that recorded the highest investment approvals for the manufacturing sector were Penang, Kedah, Selangor, Johor and Negeri Sembilan, which contributed 81 percent of the total. MITI stated this in response to a question from Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee (PN-Beluran) regarding domestic investments and foreign direct investments approved since 2023 that have been realised, including the value of investments, the actual number of jobs created, and their performance by state. Meanwhile, in response to a question from Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin (PN-Larut) regarding the government's efforts to attract world-class technology and industrial companies to invest in Malaysia, MITI explained that its party, together with the agency, MIDA, is always implementing various strategic efforts to attract world-class technology and industrial companies. Among them are through targeted Trade and Investment Missions (TIMs), implementing the "Strike Force" approach and Special Project Missions, and offering incentives based on results, the ministry added. MITI informed that, in addition to efforts to attract new investments, the government is also focusing on investment facilitation aspects throughout the 'investor journey', starting from the pre-investment phase to implementation and post-investment to ensure that world-class technology and industrial companies receive the support they need. “Moving forward, the government will continue to strengthen Malaysia's attractiveness as a regional investment hub through consistent policies, a competitive industrial ecosystem, efficient investment facilitation, and talent and technology development. "This approach is believed to continue to attract world-class technology and industrial companies to invest, grow and make Malaysia a strategic base of operations in the region," said MITI. -- BERNAMA
