30 Arrested in Crackdown on Cross-Border Prostitution Syndicate

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 21 2026, Thirty individuals have been arrested in a joint Malaysia-Singapore operation targeting a suspected prostitution syndicate that allegedly used online platforms to offer services in Singapore.

Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk M. Kumar said the operation, known as “Op Noda-Rentas Sempadan”, was conducted with the Singapore Police Force (SPF) at several residential premises in Kuala Lumpur and Johor.

Nine suspects, comprising one Malaysian and eight foreigners aged between 29 and 56, were arrested during raids by Bukit Aman CID and the Johor police contingent. The foreign suspects included seven Chinese nationals and one Singaporean.

Preliminary investigations indicated that all nine were allegedly linked to the syndicate and wanted by Singapore authorities. One Singaporean and four Chinese nationals were also found to have overstayed in Malaysia.

Kumar said arrangements would be made to hand over the nine suspects to Singapore authorities after their identities were verified and the necessary legal procedures completed.

Police also arrested another 21 foreigners, comprising five men and 16 women aged between 19 and 41, suspected of managing and promoting online prostitution services. They included 17 Chinese nationals, three Vietnamese nationals and one Laotian. Electronic devices believed to be linked to the activities were also seized.

Investigations suggest the syndicate had been operating in Singapore since 2024, using Malaysia as its base to manage two websites offering prostitution services in the republic.

Kumar said the operation highlighted the importance of intelligence-sharing and cooperation between the Royal Malaysia Police and the SPF in tackling cross-border crime.
