KUALA LUMPUR, July 21 – Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil officiated the International Regulatory Conference (IRC) 2026, reaffirming Malaysia’s commitment to building a trusted, resilient and inclusive digital ecosystem through forward-looking policies and international collaboration.
The conference brought together regulators, policymakers, industry leaders, academics and international partners to exchange ideas on strengthening digital governance in an increasingly interconnected world.
Also present at the opening ceremony were Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching and Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) Chairman Tan Sri Mohamad Salim Fateh Din.
Held under the theme “Shaping the Next Digital Era: Regulation, Resilience and Trust,” IRC 2026 highlighted the need for responsible regulation, enhanced online safety and closer cooperation among stakeholders to support innovation while maintaining public confidence in the digital landscape.
Speaking at the event, Fahmi said Malaysia’s digital transformation must be supported by policies that balance technological advancement with accountability and public trust.
He noted that strengthening regulatory frameworks and fostering international partnerships are essential to ensuring the country’s digital ecosystem remains secure, resilient and capable of supporting sustainable economic growth.
The conference also served as a platform for participants to discuss emerging regulatory challenges, digital resilience and collaborative approaches to shaping the future of digital governance.
IRC 2026 reflects Malaysia’s continued efforts to promote innovation while safeguarding the interests of businesses, consumers and the wider digital community through effective and adaptive regulation.
