PUTRAJAYA — Strict action must be taken immediately by the authorities including the Attorney General regarding the 3R (religion, race and royal institutions) issue, said Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil.
He said the matter was decided at the Cabinet meeting today after several issues related to the 3R as reported by the mainstream media and social media were raised.
“Strict action must be taken now by the authorities including the Attorney General… at the same time, if there are any loopholes in the law, then it should be reviewed,” he said in a press conference after the Cabinet meeting here today.
Fahmi said the steps include amending or drafting new bills so that issues related to the 3R can be dealt with more thoroughly in the future.
Yesterday, several Cabinet members said they would raise the issue of religious and racial provocation at the Cabinet meeting today.
They include Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development Minister Steven Sim, Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan and Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming.
