KUALA LUMPUR, July 24 — Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has extended his best wishes to the Malaysian contingent competing in the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, urging athletes to perform with confidence and uphold the spirit of sportsmanship.
In a message of support, Zahid said the official opening of the Commonwealth Games marked an important moment as the Jalur Gemilang was proudly displayed during the opening ceremony, with Malaysians nationwide rallying behind the national athletes.
He conveyed his encouragement to all athletes, coaches and officials representing the country at the international sporting event, calling on them to give their best performances and compete with determination for Malaysia.
“Compete with full confidence, uphold the spirit of sportsmanship and give your best for the nation,” he said.
Zahid also expressed hope that the Malaysian contingent would be granted strength, good health and safety throughout the tournament, while praying for successful performances that would bring pride and honour to the country.
