Bus Buddy Technologies Launches Integrated Digital Platform for School Transport

KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA & DILI, TIMOR-LESTE

Bus Buddy Technologies Sdn Bhd, a strategic joint venture of Asia Mobiliti, Malaysiaʼs leading mobility and digital city solutions company and Bus Buddy, one of Malaysiaʼs largest school transport companies, today announced the official launch of its integrated digital school transport platform aimed at raising safety, improving operations, and digitising the experience of school transport services.

The announcement was made in conjunction with the signing ceremony with Bus Buddyʼs latest client, St Paul Methodist School, Timor-Leste on 28th of February, positioning the institution as the first in Timor-Leste to implement a fully digital, real-time monitored school transport management system.

Bus Buddy Technologies integrates Bus Buddyʼs operational expertise in school transport with Asia Mobilityʼs Mobility-as-a-Service MaaS technology platform. The solution provides for real-time fleet tracking, digital student register, automated notifications for pick-up and drop-off, route optimisation, and centralised administrative dashboard — delivering structured oversight and measurable accountability across daily student journeys.

“Mobility technologies must ultimately serve communities in practical and meaningful ways,ˮ said Ramachandran Muniandy, CEO & Co-founder of Asia Mobiliti. He adds, “Through our joint venture in Bus Buddy Technologies, we are extending our MaaS capabilities into the education sector, addressing a critical operational gap that directly affects families. We aim to serve all schools and all transporters with a common digital platform, ensuring that children in all communities are served with the best mobility technology for their daily commute to and from schoolˮ.

School transportation remains one of the least digitised components of the mobility ecosystem. Manual attendance processes, limited oversight, and lack of real-time visibility have historically constrained service governance. Bus Buddy Technologies addresses these structural challenges through a purpose-built platform designed specifically for educational institutions and student mobility.

“This joint venture represents a strategic move to professionalise school transport operations across the region. Student transport is an extension of a schoolʼs duty of care. By integrating technology with operational experience, we are creating a system where every journey is traceable, every boarding event is recorded, and every stakeholder is connected in real time. Our objective is to establish a higher baseline standard for safety, accountability, and service reliability in school transportationˮ, says Samuel Yee, CEO of Bus Buddy Technologies.

Bus Buddy Technologies is already serving a growing portfolio of institutions and transporters at various stages of deployment, including Alice Smith International School, Sunway International School, and pilot implementations at Rocklin International School and Pusat Bahasa Teikyo. The implementation at St Paul Methodist School in Timor-Leste marks Bus Buddy Technologiesʼ regional expansion and reflects increasing demand among educational institutions for digitised oversight and structured transport governance.

Mr. David Chan, Principal of St Paul Methodist School, Timor-Leste, said the adoption of the platform aligns with the schoolʼs long-term commitment to student welfare and operational excellence. “The safety and well-being of our students remain paramount. The implementation of Bus Buddy Technologies enhances coordination between our administration, bus drivers, and parents. Real-time monitoring and structured reporting provide an added layer of assurance for our entire school community. We are proud that a Malaysian company has ventured into this beautiful nation and enabled our school to be the first in Timor-Leste to adopt this solution.ˮ

The signing ceremony in Dili was officially witnessed by His Excellency Dato’ Amarjit Singh Sarjit Singh, the Malaysian Ambassador to Timor-Leste, in the presence of parents, teachers, bus drivers and leadership of St Paul Methodist School and the Bus Buddy leadership team. From this expansion to Timor-Leste, Bud Buddy looks toward market forays into Indonesia and the Pacific Island countries where school transport remains challenging with reliability, safety, and accessibility issues
