KUALA LUMPUR, July 30 — Malaysia continues to offer some of the lowest petrol and diesel prices in Southeast Asia, supported by targeted fuel subsidies under the MADANI Government, according to an infographic released by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN).
For the fuel price period from July 30 to August 5, 2026, RON95 petrol is priced at RM1.99 per litre under the BUDI subsidy programme, while BUDI Diesel is sold at RM2.10 per litre. Meanwhile, the unsubsidised pump prices stand at RM3.82 per litre for petrol and RM4.62 per litre for diesel.
The comparison shows that Malaysia’s subsidised fuel prices remain significantly lower than those in many neighbouring countries. Singapore records the highest prices in the region, with petrol at RM9.50 per litre and diesel at RM11.13 per litre, followed by Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, the Philippines, Myanmar, Indonesia and Vietnam.
Only Brunei offers lower retail fuel prices, with petrol at RM1.69 per litre and diesel at RM0.99 per litre.
The infographic notes that Malaysia has managed to keep fuel prices among the lowest despite continued upward pressure caused by global supply disruptions and international market volatility.
The government said its targeted subsidy mechanism is aimed at easing the cost of living while ensuring fuel assistance reaches eligible Malaysians without placing excessive strain on national finances.
The fuel price comparison is based on official data compiled by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living as of July 29, 2026, covering the weekly pricing period from July 30 to August 5, 2026.
