Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Prak Sokhonn departing Malaysia after concluding a two-day official visit to the country.
SEPANG, Aug 4 (Bernama) — Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Prak Sokhonn departed Malaysia today after concluding a two-day official visit to the country.
Sokhonn and his delegation departed from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 on a commercial flight bound for Phnom Penh at 4.45 pm.
Present to bid farewell to Sokhonn and his delegation was the Malaysian Government’s chief ceremony officer Datuk Rozainor Ramli.
Sokhonn began his visit on Monday in conjunction with preparations for the 70th anniversary celebration of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and Cambodia in 2027, demonstrating the close and enduring partnership between the two countries.
Yesterday, he paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at the Prime Minister’s Office, where both leaders reaffirmed the longstanding ties between the two countries and discussed ways to strengthen strategic cooperation in various sectors, including digital economy, artificial intelligence, halal industry, food security and human capital development.
Sokhonn also co-chaired the 3rd Malaysia-Cambodia Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC) Meeting with Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan in Kuala Lumpur today, marking the resumption of the bilateral mechanism after a 20-year hiatus.
Malaysia and Cambodia recorded robust trade growth in 2025, with bilateral trade rising 27.4 per cent year-on-year to RM5 billion (USD1.17 billion). Malaysia’s exports to Cambodia amounted to RM4.13 billion (USD970 million), while imports totalled RM880 million (USD200 million).
As of 2024, Malaysia’s cumulative investments in Cambodia stood at USD3.20 billion (RM13.07 billion) across 162 registered projects, making Malaysia the third-largest foreign investor in the Kingdom.
