Waldorf Astoria Kuala Lumpur Unveils Culinary Line-Up Led By Star Chefs Garima Arora And Jean-Georges Vongerichten

KUALA LUMPUR — Waldorf Astoria Kuala Lumpur has unveiled its culinary vision ahead of its expected opening in late 2026, featuring dining concepts led by internationally acclaimed chefs Garima Arora and Jean-Georges Vongerichten.

The hotel, part of the Hilton luxury portfolio, aims to position itself as a major gastronomic destination in the region by introducing a diverse range of dining experiences that combine global culinary expertise with local cultural influences.

According to Candice D’Cruz, vice president of Luxury Brands, Asia Pacific at Hilton, gastronomy has become a major driver of luxury travel and an important component of the Waldorf Astoria experience.

“Through collaborations with visionary chefs like Garima Arora and Jean-Georges Vongerichten, we continue to build on the brand’s legacy of culinary excellence while curating immersive dining experiences that connect global expertise with the rich cultural narrative of Kuala Lumpur,” she said.

Modern Indian Dining Concept

Arora, the chef-owner of Bangkok’s two-Michelin-starred Restaurant Gaa, will introduce Yaari, a modern Indian dining concept that celebrates the diversity of Indian cuisine.

The restaurant will reinterpret regional Indian dishes, ranging from southern coastal curries to northern kebabs, alongside refined versions of traditional street food such as chaats. The dessert menu will draw inspiration from classic Indian mithai sweets while presenting them with contemporary techniques and presentation.

Arora made history in 2018 when Restaurant Gaa earned a Michelin star, making her the first Indian female chef to helm a Michelin-starred restaurant.

Three Signature Concepts By Jean-Georges

Vongerichten, a globally renowned French chef whose flagship Jean-Georges in New York City holds two Michelin stars, will introduce three signature dining concepts at the hotel: JG KL, abc kitchens KL, and The Bar by JG.

JG KL will feature refined dishes that blend French, American and Asian influences, while abc kitchens KL will offer a more relaxed dining experience inspired by the chef’s farm-to-table philosophy and plant-forward cuisine.

Meanwhile, The Bar by JG will present an elevated bar dining concept featuring small plates and shareable dishes paired with curated beverages.

Strengthening Kuala Lumpur’s Culinary Scene

General manager Etienne Dalançon said the collaborations highlight the hotel’s ambition to create a world-class culinary destination that appeals to both international visitors and local diners.

“These partnerships underscore our vision to create unique dining concepts that connect guests and locals with the spirit of Kuala Lumpur,” he said.

Additional dining venues are expected to be announced ahead of the hotel’s opening later this year, further strengthening its position as a major culinary landmark in Southeast Asia.
