AirAsia RedRun returns with seven-city regional rollout across Asean and beyond

SEPANG, March 12 — AirAsia has announced the return of its regional running event series, AirAsia RedRun, with an expanded seven-city rollout in 2026 across key destinations in its Asean and Asia network.

The race series, first introduced in 2025, aims to promote active lifestyles and purposeful travel by connecting communities through sports while encouraging participants to explore destinations within the airline’s network.

According to Amanda Woo, Chief Commercial Officer of AirAsia X, the initiative reflects the airline’s vision of linking communities across Asia through shared experiences.

“RedRun represents what AirAsia stands for. We built our network across more than 150 destinations to connect Asia, and RedRun is what happens when bold ambitions meet real connections,” she said, adding that the event offers participants an opportunity to travel while engaging in sport.

For 2026, the race series will take place in seven cities, including Da Nang, Bali, Kota Kinabalu, Cebu, Phuket, Surabaya, and Taipei, turning major destinations into race weekends that combine fitness, travel and tourism.

The first three confirmed races will be held in Da Nang on April 26, Bali on May 10 and Kota Kinabalu on June 28, with registrations already open for participants.

Runners will be able to compete in 5km, 10km and 21km categories, catering to both casual runners and experienced athletes.

Participants will also be able to access special travel promotions on flights, hotels and travel add-ons through AirAsia’s travel ecosystem, designed to enhance the overall race experience in each destination.

Organisers expect the 2026 series to attract more than 100,000 runners from across Asia, supporting cross-border tourism while strengthening the airline’s brand presence beyond aviation.

In addition to completing the races, participants will also stand a chance to win prizes, including the grand prize of free flights for a year along with exclusive AirAsia sports merchandise.
