MELAKA: Political negotiations through social media should be put on hold and replaced with more constructive discussions at the negotiating table, says Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh.
The Melaka Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman said all parties involved should make room for amicable negotiations to explore how cooperation could be realised and a strong team formed to defend Melaka.
He said the upcoming Melaka polls would be approached under the “BN Plus” framework, with all parties welcome to negotiate.
“We should negotiate properly. Not through social media, as it can create an unhealthy perception.
“Anyone can come and negotiate. There is no need to voice it on social media when they have yet to meet me or party chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi,” he told reporters after officiating the closing ceremony of the Wakil Rakyat Untuk Rakyat (WRUR) Parliament Tangga Batu: Kampung Kita programme at Stadium Hang Jebat here last night.
Rauf, who is also Tanjung Bidara assemblyman, said Melaka BN would defend its 21 seats in the next state election, including those it won in the previous polls.
