KUALA LUMPUR, August 11 2026 — The MADANI Government has allocated RM6.7 million for three major initiatives under the Malaysian Indian Transformation Unit (MITRA), aimed at strengthening the socioeconomic development and well-being of the Indian community nationwide.
Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan said the initiatives — Tuisyen MADANI, Uyarvu MADANI and Dharma MADANI — would directly benefit students, entrepreneurs and Hindu houses of worship across the country.
Under Tuisyen MADANI 2026, 28 tuition centres across seven states will provide free tuition for five months, from August to December, benefiting 2,343 SPM and STPM students.
The programme, allocated RM2.63 million, is designed to improve students’ academic performance, reduce educational gaps and ease the financial burden on families.
Meanwhile, Uyarvu MADANI Series I 2026, which focuses on Indian entrepreneurs from the B40 and M40 groups, has selected 128 entrepreneurs to receive more than RM3.05 million in grants under the micro, growth and high-impact categories.
Ramanan said the grants would help entrepreneurs expand their operations, strengthen competitiveness and reach wider markets, while contributing to the growth of Indian-owned micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
He added that Indian entrepreneurs could also seek business grants through other agencies, including SME Bank, Bank Rakyat and Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia.
Under Dharma MADANI Series Four, 52 Hindu houses of worship have received a total of RM1.04 million, while another 324 houses of worship are expected to receive grants soon. This will bring the overall number of beneficiaries under the series to 676.
Separately, commenting on the resignation of Subang MP Wong Chen, Ramanan, who is also PKR vice-president, said the decision was disappointing not only for the party but also for the voters who had supported him.
He said PKR had given Wong the opportunity to contest the Subang parliamentary seat three times, eventually allowing him to win with a majority of about 100,000 votes under the party’s ticket.
Ramanan said that although he was disappointed with Wong’s decision, he respected it and acknowledged that Wong was free to join any political party of his choice.
