UMNO News Dismisses Negative Labels, Focuses on Rebuilding Party Strength — Mohamad

SEREMBAN — UMNO has chosen not to entertain the various negative labels thrown by certain quarters, instead determined to focus on strengthening the party’s internal harmony as the main step to rise again.

UMNO Deputy President Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said the party is currently in the process of rebuilding its strength starting from the grassroots level to ensure that member unity is the main foundation to face the challenges ahead.

“So don’t worry about people labelling us a ‘ghost house’ (because of the Rumah Bangsa initiative), it’s up to you, the elders say that language shows race, if you want to show that you are a good person, use good language especially during this fasting month,” he told reporters after the Iftar Ceremony with the Rembau UMNO Division Committee Leadership here, last night.

UMNO President Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had previously announced that UMNO was opening the door to any former members who had been sacked and suspended from membership to return to the party under the “Rumah Bangsa” initiative without imposing any conditions.

Regarding preparations for the State Election (PRN), Mohamad, who is also the Member of Parliament for Rembau, said UMNO has begun discussing preparations to face the possibility of the Melaka PRN at the end of this year and Johor next year.

“Now we are instructing branches to meet early in April and May while divisions in June to July, after which we will focus on helping our friends in Melaka and Johor,” he said.

In addition, he said UMNO’s priority at this time is to support the government’s efforts to maintain the momentum of stability and economic growth in the country, especially when facing the effects of conflicts in West Asia which could directly or indirectly affect Malaysia.
