KOTA TINGGI, September 4 — The body of a third teenager who went missing while swimming at Pantai Tanjung Lompat has been recovered, as search efforts continue for the remaining victim.
The body of Muhammad Adib Hafiy Kamal was discovered at approximately 11.15am on Friday by a boat crew from the Tanjung Lompat Recreation Association.
Acting director of the Tanjung Sedili Maritime Zone, Maritime Commander Mohd Najib Sam, said the victim was found about 0.5 nautical miles southeast of Tanjung Siang, within the designated search area.
The body was retrieved and brought to shore before being identified by the victim’s next of kin. He was subsequently confirmed dead and taken to Hospital Kota Tinggi for further procedures.
The discovery leaves Mohamad Haiman Fitri Supian as the only teenager still missing in the tragedy.
Two other victims, Muhammad Thaqif Rayyan Rumainoor and Alif Taqiuddin Kamal Hasrul, were found dead earlier, while two others, Mohamad Faqrul Isqadar Abdullah and Muhammad Afiq Ruzaini Mazlan, were rescued by members of the public.
The incident involved six teenagers from a group of 15 who had reportedly been camping in the area for the past three days.
The search and rescue operation entered its third day on Friday, with the search area expanded to approximately 103 square nautical miles and involving 61 personnel from multiple agencies.
