PETALING JAYA: The Registrar of Societies Malaysia (RoS) has suspended all activities of Perikatan Nasional (PN), effective yesterday.
RoS said the suspension was issued under Section 13(2A) of the Societies Act 1966 to protect the organisation’s interests and prevent further breaches of its constitution.
The department said it had previously issued a notice to PN on Sept 22, giving the coalition a reasonable period to respond to complaints lodged by Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu).
RoS stressed that the notice was not a decision to cancel PN’s registration.
The department also urged all parties to refer to official information from RoS and avoid speculation or the spread of unverified information.
Bersatu previously confirmed receiving the notice, with its secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali saying it was received yesterday afternoon.
RoS had earlier confirmed receiving a formal complaint from Bersatu on Aug 11, including allegations that the party was excluded from a PN Supreme Council meeting on July 16 and concerns over its membership status in the coalition.
