HANGZHOU, September 24 2026, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has expressed his appreciation for the official Mandarin translation of his book, Rethinking Ourselves: Justice, Reform, and Ignorance in Postnormal Times.
In a Facebook post, Anwar described the translation as a meaningful effort that could broaden opportunities for the exchange of ideas, cultures and civilisations.
He said the book is not a memoir or autobiography, but a collection of reflections on colonialism, imperialism, the rise of independent nations and the development of national identity.
The Prime Minister said it also explores efforts to build a nation-state and a future based on justice, humanity and shared prosperity.
Anwar said Malaysia-China relations demonstrate that differences do not necessarily lead to conflict, but can instead encourage greater understanding and cooperation.
The Mandarin edition was published by World Affairs Press under China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Translated by Dr Yan Lijin, it has an initial print run of about 5,000 copies.
The original English edition was published in October 2025 by Penguin Random House SEA.
