KUALA LUMPUR, 27 September 2026, The Negeri Sembilan government will continue to function as usual to ensure the well-being and interests of the people are not affected by the ongoing political crisis in the state.
Negeri Sembilan UMNO Liaison Committee chairman Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias said this was the main focus of a special meeting chaired by Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi with Negeri Sembilan BN assemblymen at Menara Dato’ Onn here tonight.
Jalaluddin said various approaches could be considered to ensure the state administration continues to operate, even without members of the State Executive Council (Exco).
He said Menteri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim was expected to have a formula to mobilise the state government machinery and ensure matters involving the people’s interests could proceed.
The meeting, which lasted more than two hours, was also attended by the Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar and several BN assemblymen.
Earlier, Ahmad Zahid said the meeting was held to coordinate and identify the best options in accordance with the state constitution and customary laws.
He also gave Ismail full mandate to seek a solution, including by meeting the Yang Dipertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, the Undang Yang Empat, Tunku Besar Tampin and other leaders within the customary hierarchy.
Ahmad Zahid also said there was no need to declare a political emergency as the security and public order situation in the state remained under control.
