KUANTAN, 28 September 2026, An 80-year-old man died after a fire broke out at a semi-permanent house in Kampung Kuala Dong, Raub, yesterday.
Pahang Fire and Rescue Department director Datuk Mohd Razam Taja Rahim said the victim, identified as Abd Hamid Jaafar, was believed to have died from burns caused by intense heat during the blaze.
He said the victim was found in the living room of the house, which was about 80 per cent destroyed in the fire reported at 9.56 pm.
An elderly woman who was also in the house managed to escape unharmed.
Firefighters brought the blaze under control before the operation ended at 2.13 am.
Pahang Communications and Multimedia, Youth, Sports and NGOs Committee chairman Datuk Fadzli Mohamad Kamal expressed condolences to the victim’s family.
