KANGAR, September 28 2026, The new Perlis police chief, DCP Hamzah Hashim, has outlined five key priorities to guide the leadership of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) in the state.
The priorities are strengthening public safety and order, enhancing personnel readiness and capabilities, reinforcing integrity and professionalism, strengthening public confidence, and empowering human capital, technology and innovation.
Hamzah said Perlis, as a border state, must remain vigilant and proactive in addressing security threats and cross-border crime.
He also stressed that integrity must be embedded in every decision and action, with no compromise on misconduct or abuse of power.
Hamzah called on all personnel to work together in a strong spirit of esprit de corps while upholding the reputation of PDRM and the Perlis contingent.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail said Hamzah’s extensive experience, including about five years with the Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCOM), would bring a fresh perspective to the contingent.
Hamzah, 55, replaces Datuk Muhammad Abdul Halim, who has been transferred to Bukit Aman.
