Students Urged To Master Technology, Develop Critical Thinking

KANGAR, September 29 2026, University students should master technology while strengthening their reading skills, critical thinking and values to become creators of knowledge and innovation rather than merely technology users.

The Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, said rapid technological advancements and changing demands required students to remain adaptable, think critically and develop solutions relevant to society and industry.

He said higher education should be used to develop graduates who are knowledgeable, skilled and possess integrity, enabling them to adapt to technological changes and contribute meaningfully to society.

“Do not let the hopes and sacrifices of your families who have supported you throughout your journey go to waste,” he said at the Appreciation Ceremony held in conjunction with Universiti Malaysia Perlis’ (UniMAP) Orientation Week for the 2026/2027 academic session in Arau yesterday.

Tuanku Syed Faizuddin, who is also UniMAP Chancellor, said the university provides students with an environment to gain knowledge, develop skills, broaden their experiences and realise their potential.

Meanwhile, Istana Arau said UniMAP welcomed 2,798 new students into its bachelor’s degree programmes for the 2026/2027 academic session.

Registration began on Sept 26, followed by an orientation programme focusing on academic preparation, character development and familiarisation with campus life.
