Tun Dr Mahathir Admitted To IJN For Observation — Mokhzani

KUALA LUMPUR, September 30 2026, Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was admitted to the National Heart Institute (IJN) yesterday for observation, his son Tan Sri Mokhzani said.

Mokhzani said there was no cause for concern over his father’s condition, adding that the admission was to allow doctors to monitor him following the death of his mother, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali.

“He was admitted to IJN for observation. The past two days have been quite stressful for Tun M, but for now, he is okay and there is no cause for concern,” he said when contacted today.

Tun Dr Siti Hasmah, 100, died at IJN on Sept 28 and was laid to rest at Pusara Negara in Precinct 20, Putrajaya, later that day with full state funeral honours.

Another of Tun Dr Mahathir’s sons, Datuk Seri Mukhriz, previously said his father had been at IJN to accompany Tun Dr Siti Hasmah during her treatment before her passing.

Tun Dr Mahathir and Tun Dr Siti Hasmah were married on Aug 5, 1956, and celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this year. The couple have seven children.
