KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has congratulated Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) and its joint-venture partners on finalising the investment decision for Phase 2 of the Canadian LNG project in Kitimat, British Columbia.
Anwar said the development would pave the way for CA$33 billion in private-sector investment.
He said the expansion would make LNG Canada one of the world’s largest liquefied natural gas facilities while strengthening energy supplies to international markets.
The Prime Minister also said Petronas’ ability to deliver large-scale energy projects with international partners reflected confidence in Malaysia’s expertise and capabilities.
Anwar expressed appreciation to Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney for his support for Petronas, adding that he looked forward to meeting Carney and the Canadian delegation to strengthen Malaysia-Canada relations and expand bilateral cooperation.
