KUALA LUMPUR: The allocation for the Malaysian Indian Transformation Unit (Mitra) will be increased to RM150 million in 2027, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced.
Anwar said the additional funding would focus on expanding training and employment opportunities for Indian youths, particularly in high-demand fields such as industrial automation, technology and aircraft maintenance.
The allocation represents an increase from the RM100 million announced under Budget 2026, which was subsequently supplemented by an additional RM50 million in May.
The increased funding is aimed at equipping Indian youths with relevant skills, improving their employability and providing greater access to career opportunities in technical and specialised industries.
