My50 Pass to Continue, MyKomuter50 to Be Introduced Under Budget 2027

KUALA LUMPUR: The government will continue the My50 travel pass and introduce a new MyKomuter50 pass under Budget 2027 to ease public transport costs for Malaysians.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said the My50 pass would continue benefiting 300,000 users of Prasarana’s bus and rail services in the Klang Valley.

Meanwhile, the new MyKomuter50 pass is expected to benefit 40,000 KTM Komuter users, with commuters able to save an average of up to RM160 a month.

The government will also continue providing free travel passes for 360,000 school students, persons with disabilities (OKU) and children below six years old.

Measures to improve rail services
Addressing frequent train breakdowns and service disruptions that have affected commuters’ journeys to work, Anwar said Prasarana and Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) had been tasked with taking immediate action to ensure smoother and more reliable rail services.

As a longer-term solution, Prasarana will invest more than RM3.4 billion in a comprehensive rehabilitation of its rail services.

The government will also acquire 42 new train sets for the Electric Train Service (ETS) and KTM Komuter networks.

The measures are aimed at reducing service disruptions, improving rail reliability and making public transport more affordable and convenient for commuters.
