Rapid KL Reports Attempted Cable Theft Disrupted Kajang Line Power Supply

KUALA LUMPUR, October 16 2026, Rapid KL said power supply to the affected section of the MRT Kajang Line was temporarily disconnected in accordance with established operational and safety procedures following an attempted cable theft.

The operator said the power interruption was necessary to allow auxiliary police personnel to inspect the area and search for the suspects while safeguarding passengers, staff and railway infrastructure.

Power supply was restored at 6.32am after the necessary safety measures were completed, it said in a statement.

Temporary alternative train services were also arranged during the inspection and search operation to ensure passengers could continue their journeys safely.

Rapid KL stressed that cable theft was a serious offence that could disrupt train operations and endanger the safety of passengers and employees.

A police report has been lodged at the Brickfields district police headquarters to facilitate further investigations.

The operator added that it would continue cooperating with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) to support the investigation and prevent similar incidents from recurring.
