KUALA LUMPUR, October 19 2026, Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the coalition’s discussions on cooperation for the upcoming Melaka state election have been finalised, with an announcement expected within the next few days.
He said Melaka BN chairman Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh would announce the details after reviewing the arrangements.
“I have studied it and asked Datuk Seri Utama Rauf to make the announcement,” he told reporters after officiating the Road Safety Congress 2026 here today.
Last Thursday, Zahid said BN would defend all 21 state seats it won in the previous election while remaining open to negotiations over the remaining seven seats in the 28-seat state assembly.
On Saturday, Ab Rauf, who is also the caretaker Melaka Chief Minister, said BN would announce its candidates for the November 14 state election on October 28.
