MOSCOW: Crude oil stocks in the United States’ Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) fell to 282.7 million barrels last week, marking their lowest level since October 1982, according to data from the US Department of Energy, Sputnik/RIA Novosti reported.
The SPR held 280.802 million barrels at the end of the week on Oct 15, 1982, the data showed.
In March, US Energy Secretary Chris Wright said the country would release 172 million barrels of crude oil from its emergency reserves in an effort to bring down soaring energy prices.
