One Killed, Eight Injured in Attack on Saudi Arabia’s Dammam Airport

ISTANBUL, October 22 2026 One person was killed and eight others injured in an attack on King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, eastern Saudi Arabia, late Wednesday, according to the country’s civil aviation authority.

The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) said the injured victims were taken to hospital, with their conditions ranging from minor to severe.

Authorities are assessing the extent of the damage caused by the attack, while further details are expected to be released. However, GACA has not disclosed the nature of the incident.

Separately, Saudi Arabia’s Energy Ministry reported that two people were killed and two others injured by falling debris after air defences intercepted a drone targeting an Aramco facility at the Shaybah oil field in the Eastern Province.

The falling debris also sparked a fire involving a contractor’s vehicle, although oil field operations remained unaffected, the ministry said.

The Saudi-led coalition also reported intercepting and destroying five drones launched towards the kingdom, including in the Eastern Province and the Medina region.

King Fahd International Airport was previously targeted on Oct 11, prompting authorities to conduct damage assessments and safety inspections.

The latest incidents come amid escalating hostilities involving Yemen’s Houthi group and the Saudi-led coalition, with Saudi airports and energy infrastructure among the reported targets.
