KUALA LUMPUR, October 22, 2026 — Nine alleged members of Geng Suria are scheduled to be charged at the Sungai Petani Sessions Court in Kedah today for allegedly being part of an organised criminal group linked to 20 property and violent crime cases.
Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk M. Kumar said the group was believed to have been active since early 2024 and was allegedly involved in armed robberies that resulted in injuries to victims.
The suspects, aged between 28 and 52, were identified following Op Sunset, a joint operation conducted by Bukit Aman and the Kedah police contingent from September 24 to 27 in Kedah and Perak.
Six suspects, aged between 28 and 39, were arrested during the operation, while three other alleged members were already being held in prisons over separate criminal offences.
Police also seized six mobile phones and 189 ecstasy pills weighing approximately 101.12 grammes. Investigations into the drug seizure are being conducted under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
According to Kumar, the group allegedly targeted foreigners’ homes, business premises and residential properties identified by its leader, a 30-year-old local man.
Members were alleged to have used weapons such as knives and machetes during robberies and were prepared to injure victims to carry out their activities.
The stolen valuables were reportedly sold for money, with the proceeds distributed among members according to their respective roles and involvement.
Police said several suspects had previous criminal records involving vehicle theft, housebreaking, drug-related offences and gang robberies involving weapons.
The alleged criminal activities are believed to have caused losses amounting to hundreds of thousands of ringgit since 2024.
The investigation papers were referred to the Serious Crimes Unit of the Attorney-General’s Chambers, which approved charges against all nine suspects under Section 130V(1) of the Penal Code for membership in an organised criminal group.
If convicted, they face imprisonment of between five and 20 years.
The police said they would continue taking action against organised crime groups to safeguard public safety and urged members of the public to provide information to assist investigations.
