JOHOR BAHRU, November 3 – International sportswear brand XTEP has opened a new flagship running store at Mid Valley Southkey, Johor Bahru, as part of its expansion in Malaysia.
The new store aims to support the region’s growing running community with professional footwear, sports equipment and running-related services.
XTEP said the outlet is designed to serve more than 100,000 runners across southern Malaysia. It also aims to strengthen connections between Malaysian and Singaporean running communities.
XTEP Donates RM20,000 in Sports Equipment
Alongside the store opening, XTEP donated RM20,000 worth of sports equipment to the Johor State Sports Council.
The contribution aims to support young athletes, improve training opportunities and help local competitors prepare for sporting events.
The initiative reflects the company’s efforts to support grassroots sports development beyond its retail business.
Elite Runner Shares Professional Experience
The two-day opening programme featured several activities under XTEP’s global campaign, “LET THE RUN BEGIN”.
These included a professional running clinic, community engagement activities and a special appearance by Chinese marathon runner Feng Peiyou.
Feng, who holds China’s men’s marathon national record, shared his racing experience and introduced visitors to the brand’s running technology.
He also took part in a one-day store manager activity and presented signed racing shoes as part of the event.
New Store Features Advanced Running Products
The 600-square-metre flagship store offers XTEP’s premium running collection.
One of its key products is the 160X 8.0 carbon-plate racing shoe series, designed for competitive runners.
The brand also highlighted the achievements of its sponsored athletes at major international marathons.
Feng recorded a time of 2:05:58 at the Tokyo Marathon, setting a new Chinese men’s marathon national record while wearing XTEP racing shoes.
Partnerships Support Local Running Communities
XTEP is also working with local running groups to encourage more people to take part in the sport.
In May 2026, the company established partnerships with WIND RUNNER and PACEMAKER MALAYSIA.
Through these partnerships, XTEP supports regular training sessions and community activities.
Its 260X and 360X product ranges are designed to serve different running needs, from daily jogging to competitive training.
XTEP Plans More Stores in Malaysia
XTEP Malaysia general manager Mao Yukang said Malaysia remains an important market for the company’s Southeast Asian growth plans.
He said the company’s investment focuses on building local sports communities, rather than simply opening more retail outlets.
Following the Johor Bahru launch, XTEP plans to open two additional stores at Kuala Lumpur Pavilion and IOI City Mall.
These openings are expected to increase its total number of operational outlets in Malaysia to 13.
The company said it aims to turn its stores into community spaces where runners can explore equipment, exchange knowledge and connect with other athletes.
