ALOR SETAR – As many as 41,849 ferry tickets to Langkawi from the Kuala Kedah and Kuala Perlis routes and vice versa have been sold so far in conjunction with the Aidilfitri celebrations and the school holidays which begin tomorrow.
Ferry Line Ventures Sdn Bhd (Ferry Line) Operations Manager Lt Commander (Rtd) Norhafiz Abdul Wahid said passengers for the Langkawi to Kuala Kedah route were 9,903, while another 6,960 from Kuala Kedah to Langkawi.
“The Langkawi to Kuala Perlis route involves 13,756 passengers while from Kuala Perlis to Langkawi there are 11,230 people. On average, there are 10 ferry trips every day, namely five each for the Langkawi-Kuala Perlis-Langkawi and Langkawi-Kuala Kedah-Langkawi routes.
“Two additional trips will be provided subject to ticket purchase demand which is expected to increase two days before Aidilfitri and two days before the school session resumes on March 29,” he said in a statement today.
He said a total of 28 additional trips for all routes are provided from March 17 to 29, including three for the Langkawi to Kuala Kedah route, Kuala Kedah to Langkawi (one), Langkawi to Kuala Perlis (13) and Kuala Perlis to Langkawi (11).
“Operations are expected to be smooth throughout the festive season as the company has mobilised all ferries and increased the level of readiness,” he said.
Passengers can purchase tickets online via the Cuti Cuti Langkawi application or at the ticket counter.
