KUALA LUMPUR: Sabah Deputy Chief Minister III and Minister of Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport, Datuk Ewon Benedick, said that the success of Norcy Beauty Lab should serve as an inspiration for Sabah entrepreneurs to expand and compete at the national level boldly.
He said that Norcy Beauty Lab’s products are not only available in the Sabah market but have now penetrated the Peninsular Malaysia and Brunei markets, employing up to 15 workers and generating nearly RM10 million in revenue.
“When I was at the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (KUSKOP), through SME Corp last year, I presented a grant to her to expand her business.
“I am proud to witness Norcy’s success, which began on a small scale at the Matunggong Entrepreneurship Centre that I officiated when I was Sabah’s Minister of Rural Development, and has now grown into a larger-scale enterprise with its own bigger factory in Matunggong and its own OEM factory in Nilai.
“This is the spirit of Sabah First — not only striving on our own land, but daring to compete and expand beyond Sabah,” he said.
He said this after visiting the beauty product manufacturing factory owned by Sabah entrepreneur Norsiah Ahiddin in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan, recently.
Ewon also expressed his appreciation for Norsiah’s invitation to officiate the company’s new factory and assured that the Ministry of Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport Sabah (MINDET) would provide appropriate support to help further expand the business.
According to him, Norsiah’s success story aligns with the Sabah First Vision driven by MINDET, which aims to produce more Sabahans with income, either as business owners or as employees in enterprises owned by Sabahans themselves.
“Through this vision, I place strong focus on the agenda of improving the standards and quality of products and services of Sabah entrepreneurs. Therefore, MINDET will ensure appropriate support is provided to assist Norcy in expanding her enterprise,” he said.
He congratulated Norsiah Ahiddin and expressed hope that Norcy Beauty Lab’s success would spark motivation and inspiration among more entrepreneurs and the people of Sabah.
