PETALING JAYA, March 26 — The opposition coalition Perikatan Nasional (PN) has called for an urgent and transparent investigation into allegations that RM9.5 million was paid to a Member of Parliament from Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) in connection with efforts to resolve issues involving an alleged “corporate mafia” network.
In a statement on Thursday (March 26), PN secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said the claims made by a businessman were deeply concerning, citing both the large sum involved and the serious implications for corporate governance, political influence, and institutional integrity.
He noted that the allegations suggest the payment was intended to secure political intervention in corporate matters—an act that, if proven true, would constitute a grave violation of principles of good governance and integrity.
“Such claims risk creating the perception that political influence is being used to interfere in corporate affairs and law enforcement processes,” he said.
PN has urged both the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) to conduct a thorough, independent, and transparent investigation without interference from any party.
The coalition also called on the government, particularly PKR leadership, to provide an immediate explanation to the public and to fully cooperate with investigators.
Takiyuddin warned that any failure to address the allegations openly and with integrity could erode public confidence in the government’s commitment to combating corruption and abuse of power.
At the same time, PN stressed that the identity of any individuals involved should only be confirmed through proper investigative processes to avoid speculation that could harm innocent parties.
PN said it would continue monitoring developments and may raise the issue in Parliament to ensure accountability and uphold integrity in national governance.
