KUALA LUMPUR, April 1 — Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has announced the Musyawarah Nasional as a significant national platform aimed at gathering strategic views, ideas, and proposals from various segments of the Malay community on the future direction of the nation.
First introduced during the UMNO General Assembly 2025, the initiative goes beyond a conventional discourse, serving as a collective effort to build consensus and formulate solutions to current challenges affecting religion, society, economy, education, and politics.
The Musyawarah Nasional will be chaired by Abdul Ghani Othman, a seasoned leader with extensive experience in government administration and the corporate sector, including his tenure as Johor Menteri Besar and chairman of major corporations.
To ensure comprehensive and structured discussions, the platform will focus on five core pillars:
Religion – Led by YBhg.Dato’Prof Mohd Izhar Ariff Mohd Kashim, focusing on strengthening Islam’s position as the religion of the Federation while promoting a moderate and progressive understanding within society.
Politics – Headed by YBrs.Prof.Dr. Zainal Abidin Sanusi, examining current political dynamics and proposing approaches to ensure stability, leadership continuity, and democratic maturity.
Economy – Chaired by YB.Tan Sri Hj Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir Jamalullail, focusing on strategies to enhance the competitiveness and sustainability of the Malay economy.
Education – Led by YBhg.Dato Seri’Prof.Dr.Noor Inayah Ya’akub, addressing the empowerment of education as a foundation for developing quality human capital.
Social – Headed by YBhg.Dato’Prof.Dr. Mohammad Shatar Sabran, focusing on social well-being, unity, cultural values, and strengthening family and community institutions.
Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi expressed confidence that the involvement of credible figures, alongside participation from academia, community leaders, professionals, youth, and non-governmental organisations, will lead to constructive, realistic, and forward-looking outcomes.
He called on all stakeholders to participate actively and contribute ideas in an open, mature, and responsible manner, stressing that the Musyawarah Nasional can serve as a vital platform to strengthen unity, empower the national agenda, and build a more prosperous future for Malaysia.
