KUALA LUMPUR, 13 APRIL — Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo today chaired the Data Centre Task Force (DCTF) meeting, where a Sustainable Data Centre Industry Development Framework was presented as a key step towards ensuring structured and responsible growth of the sector.
In a statement following the meeting, Gobind said discussions focused on critical aspects of the industry, including energy coordination and supply projections by the Energy Commission of Malaysia, water supply readiness by the National Water Services Commission, and the latest investment updates in the data centre sector by the Malaysian Investment Development Authority.
He stressed that the development of Malaysia’s data centre industry must strike a balance—not only in terms of investment and economic growth, but also in ensuring sustainability in energy use and water resources.
YB Gobind added that while Malaysia has established itself as a world-class investment destination, it is now crucial to ensure that every investment is sustainable, inclusive, and delivers meaningful benefits to the people.
