KANGAR, April 30 2026– Agrobank continues to expand access to financial services for local communities with the opening of its new branch in Kuala Perlis near here, officiated yesterday by the Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail.
The ceremony was also graced by the Raja Puan Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Dr Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil. Also present were Perlis Menteri Besar Abu Bakar Hamzah and Agrobank president and group chief executive officer Datuk Tengku Ahmad Badli Shah Raja Hussin.
In a media statement, Agrobank said the Kuala Perlis branch is its 28th in the Northern Region, strengthening its reach across Penang, Kedah and Perlis.
The branch is equipped with ATM facilities and cash transaction services, including deposits and withdrawals, providing customers with easier and faster access to 24-hour banking in line with the growing shift towards self-service transactions.
Agrobank said the new branch also offers its Ar-Rahnu service as a pilot project in Kuala Perlis, providing the local community, including small entrepreneurs, fishermen and individual customers, with quicker access to instant cash and more flexible financial solutions.
“The opening of the Kuala Perlis branch also reflects Agrobank’s aspiration to strengthen the financial inclusion agenda by providing wider banking access to the local community, in line with its role as a Development Financial Institution (DFI) supporting the country’s socio-economic growth,” it said
Meanwhile, in his royal address, the Raja Muda of Perlis called on all parties, particularly those in agriculture, fisheries and agro-based industries, which form the backbone of the local economy, to support Agrobank’s initiative by making full use of the facilities provided.
“The establishment of this branch is not merely a physical addition, but a catalyst for transformation that can enhance the overall well-being of the community.
“Take full advantage of the services offered, including Ar-Rahnu Agrobank, which has been introduced as a pilot project in Kuala Perlis,” His Royal Highness said.
Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra said the facility provides fast, easy and syariah-compliant access to cash, thereby supporting the smooth conduct of daily affairs and strengthening the community’s economic stability.
The Raja Muda of Perlis also said the approach reflects an integrated effort towards shaping a financially literate, progressive and resilient society amid current changes.
“This initiative is expected to have a lasting impact and improve the standard of living of the community in Kuala Perlis and across Perlis,” said Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra.
Meanwhile, Tengku Ahmad Badli Shah said the opening of the new branch is in line with Agrobank’s efforts to further strengthen its nationwide presence, while enhancing customer experience through more efficient services relevant to current needs.
