KUALA LUMPUR, May 6 — Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi yesterday praised the strong sense of unity and identity among MARA alumni and stakeholders, describing it as a key pillar in driving the agency’s future direction. Speaking after attending the Gen MARA Kami Assembly at the WTC Merdeka Hall, Zahid said he was encouraged to see thousands of alumni, MARA citizens, and members of the ANSARA Malaysia network gathering in solidarity. “The spirit of Gen MARA is extraordinary. The sense of togetherness and shared identity among the community is clearly strong,” he said. Zahid also participated in the “Unplugged ANSARA” session alongside ANSARA President Taufiq Hussien, where discussions focused on strengthening governance, advancing the education agenda, and enhancing entrepreneurial empowerment within Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA). He stressed that MARA must continue to remain relevant across all segments of society, including urban and rural communities, while expanding its reach globally. “We want MARA to be more self-reliant and prepared for long-term sustainability,” he added. Zahid further commended the active engagement of ANSARA alumni, noting that their critical questions, ideas, and perspectives reflect the strength of MARA’s ecosystem. “This is the real strength of MARA — a strong network of people committed to contributing towards its mission,” he said.
