KUALA LUMPUR, May 9 2026 — The Department of Orang Asli Development (JAKOA) brought together media practitioners, influencers and Orang Asli non-governmental organisations (NGOs) at a gathering here yesterday to appreciate their roles and strengthen strategic cooperation.
JAKOA said in a statement today that the inaugural event also served as a platform to introduce the department’s management team and foster closer ties with the three key groups.
“The event was also enlivened by the presentation of the Media Appreciation Awards to several recipients, namely the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) in the television category for the ‘Apa Khabar Malaysia’ segment; ASYIKfm, Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) in the radio category; and Oh My Media for the portal category.
“Also receiving recognition was Media Prima Kelantan journalist Siti Nor Akmaliah Razak, who received the ‘Wartawan Cakna’ appreciation award,” the statement said.
JAKOA director-general Muhammad Akmal Ila Ahmad, in his speech, urged all parties to continue assisting the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development and JAKOA in delivering accurate information to the public.
He said close cooperation between the media, influencers and Orang Asli NGOs could have a significant impact in advancing the development agenda and overall well-being of the Orang Asli community.
