ASHGABAT, June 20 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has described his official visit to Turkmenistan as a success, saying it achieved its key objectives of strengthening diplomatic relations and expanding strategic cooperation between the two countries, yesterday.

As he concluded his visit to Ashgabat, Anwar expressed gratitude for the positive outcomes achieved through discussions and engagements with Turkmen leaders, particularly in advancing bilateral relations and exploring new areas of collaboration.

“Alhamdulillah, the official engagements in Ashgabat have been successfully completed. This visit has met the objectives that were outlined, especially in strengthening the friendship and strategic cooperation between Malaysia and Turkmenistan,” he said.

The Prime Minister noted that the visit had opened a new chapter in bilateral relations, creating opportunities to deepen cooperation in various sectors of mutual interest.

He highlighted the energy sector as one of the most promising areas for future collaboration, citing its significant potential to contribute to the economic growth and prosperity of both nations.

“This visit has paved the way for broader cooperation in several fields, particularly in the energy sector, which offers vast opportunities that can be further explored and developed for the benefit of both countries,” Anwar said.

The Prime Minister also conveyed his appreciation to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the Government of Turkmenistan for the warm hospitality extended to the Malaysian delegation throughout the visit.

“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and all parties in Turkmenistan for the gracious reception and excellent arrangements provided during our stay,” he said.

He thanked officials from the ministries involved, the Embassy of Malaysia in Ashgabat, PETRONAS, security personnel, and members of the media for their dedication and professionalism.

“The success of this visit would not have been possible without the commitment and hard work of the ministry teams, the Malaysian Embassy in Ashgabat, PETRONAS, security officers, and media representatives who ensured that every programme and engagement proceeded smoothly,” he added.
