KUCHING: Vestigo Petroleum Sdn. Bhd., a subsidiary of Petronas Carigali Sdn. Bhd., confirmed that a fire broke out at the West Lutong Vent A (WLV-A) facility, offshore Sarawak at about 2pm yesterday.
According to a statement from Vestigo here today, the situation has been brought under control and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Vestigo is also working closely with relevant authorities, and has taken the necessary precautions to manage the risk of exposure.
“There were no injuries or personnel affected, and the incident does not pose an immediate threat to the community and the environment.”
“Vestigo remains fully committed to the safety of its employees, protecting the environment and maintaining the integrity of its operations,” the statement said.
Yesterday, a video of the incident went viral on social media.
