JOHOR BAHRU: The actions of a group of PKR leaders and members who were reported to have left the party to join MIC recently have been described as something quite ‘strange’, said PKR secretary-general Datuk Fuziah Salleh.
He said his investigation found that the decision was driven by disappointment at not being given any positions in the party.
“I read the statement, among other things, that they were disappointed not to get the positions. So I wish them all the best , hopefully they will get big positions there,” he said at a press conference after conducting a working visit to SDS Food Sdn Bhd, in Skudai, today.
On June 28, former Johor PKR State Leadership Council Vice Chairman M. Murugan announced that he and about 200 supporters were leaving the party and joining the Iskandar Puteri Division MIC.
Meanwhile, commenting on PAS President Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang’s call for voters not to choose Pakatan Harapan (PH), Fuziah said the statement revealed efforts to revive cooperation between Barisan Nasional (BN) and PAS.
In this regard, he asked voters in the state to evaluate the matter wisely before making a decision.
Regarding the Perikatan Nasional (PN) strategy of trying to ‘fish’ for BN supporters, Fuziah believes that the tactic is actually self-defeating and reflects the coalition’s internal rifts.
“I think it will actually have more of an impact on PN because what PAS announced is a stab in the back to their own friends.
“I see everything giving an advantage to Pakatan Harapan (PH),” he said.
The Johor state election saw 172 candidates contesting for 56 State Legislative Assembly (DUN) seats with polling day set for July 11, while early voting is on July 7.
