PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) will receive an allocation of RM490 million under Budget 2027 to strengthen border security and screening measures.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said the allocation forms part of the RM7.1 billion set aside for the Home Ministry.
He said security screening at all airports would be tightened, including mandatory drug and alcohol tests for all pilots and flight crew.
AKPS will also receive 48 new body and baggage scanners, which will be installed at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), Penang International Airport and Kota Kinabalu International Airport.
The measures are aimed at strengthening airport security, improving screening procedures and enhancing the country’s border control capabilities.
