SHAH ALAM, July 24 — Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari has reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to strengthening public security and maintaining public order, following a meeting of the Selangor State Security Working Committee.
Chairing the committee’s second meeting for 2026, Amirudin met with representatives from relevant enforcement and government agencies to discuss key security issues requiring coordinated action between the state and federal governments.
Among the main issues raised was the increasing presence of undocumented migrants and refugees in Selangor, including both individuals registered and unregistered with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). Amirudin said their presence in several locations has caused concern and discomfort among local communities, making closer coordination between the Selangor Government and the Federal Government essential to address the issue more effectively.
The Menteri Besar also directed enforcement agencies to intensify operations against foreign nationals who have illegally occupied government-owned land or are involved in unlawful business activities within the state.
He said enforcement efforts will be further strengthened through close cooperation among all relevant agencies to ensure the rule of law is upheld and state land is protected from illegal encroachment.
Amirudin stressed that the Selangor Government remains fully committed to safeguarding public safety, preserving public order and protecting the well-being of the people through firm, coordinated and law-based measures.
