Angkatan Muda Harapan Calls on BN Ministers and Deputy Ministers to Resign Over BN-PN Cooperation

KUALA LUMPUR, July 19 – Angkatan Muda Harapan (AMH) has called on all ministers and deputy ministers from Barisan Nasional (BN) to resign from the Cabinet following BN’s open cooperation with Perikatan Nasional (PN) in Johor and Negeri Sembilan.

In a statement, AMH said BN’s decision to work with PN showed that the party no longer valued the trust and positions given to it under the Unity Government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The youth coalition, comprising representatives from PKR, DAP and Amanah, criticised BN Chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s remarks that cooperation between BN and PN at the state level could become a testing ground for a potential political formula ahead of the 16th General Election.

AMH claimed the statement indicated that the BN-PN cooperation was not merely temporary or tactical, but could signal the formation of a new political alliance, raising questions over BN’s commitment to the Unity Government.

The group also argued that PH had previously allocated state executive council positions to BN in Penang and Selangor after the 2023 state elections as part of efforts to uphold the spirit of cooperation.

AMH said BN’s repeated actions had raised concerns over its commitment to the coalition government and urged BN ministers and deputy ministers to step down immediately to allow the party to fully focus on strengthening its cooperation with PN.

According to AMH, the resignations would reduce public confusion over BN’s political direction and prevent any attempts to destabilise the Unity Government.

The group stressed that Malaysians want a government focused on economic growth, unity, investment and improving public welfare rather than prolonged political disputes based on narrow interests.

The statement was jointly issued by AMH Information Chief Ammar Atan, DAPSY National Publicity Secretary Ho Chi Yang, Angkatan Muda Keadilan Information Chief Danish Hairudin and WARDA Communications Bureau Director Syazana Nasir.
