PUTRAJAYA, October 19 2026, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called on government agencies to expedite the implementation of Budget 2027 initiatives to ensure Malaysians receive the intended benefits without unnecessary delays.
Anwar, who is also Finance Minister, said the success of the Budget depended not only on effective planning but also on timely and efficient execution.
“A budget can be drawn up, but the real challenge lies in its implementation,” he said at the Finance Ministry’s monthly assembly here today.
He thanked ministry officials for their work in preparing Budget 2027, emphasising that economic and institutional reforms required strong commitment and decisive action.
Anwar also highlighted targeted subsidies and improved governance as essential measures to strengthen fiscal management and ensure public funds were used effectively.
He warned that administrative delays could undermine the impact of government policies and urged civil servants to implement decisions promptly.
Among the initiatives requiring progress were registration for Rumah MADANI housing in Bandar MADANI, Bukit Jalil, and RM1,000 financial assistance for taxi drivers.
He also urged the relevant authorities to accelerate approvals for the construction of 10,000 student accommodation units at Universiti Malaya.
Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar will meet ministry secretaries-general and directors-general to monitor the progress of government initiatives, Anwar said.
Budget 2027, tabled on Oct 9 under the theme “Reaching for the Skies, While Anchored on Our Values”, carries a total allocation of RM459.8 billion.
It also includes RM25 billion in investments by government-linked investment companies, RM11 billion in public-private investments and RM14.2 billion from federal statutory bodies and companies under the Minister of Finance Incorporated.
