Bahrain Awards Four Golden Licences for Projects Worth US$3.89 Billion

MANAMA, Nov 2 – Bahrain has awarded Golden Licences to four major investment projects worth a total of US$3.89 billion.

The projects cover aviation, logistics, tourism and technology. They aim to support Bahrain’s economic growth and attract more international investors.

The announcement was made at the Gateway Gulf Investment Forum 2026. The two-day event began on November 1 at the Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay.

The Bahrain Economic Development Board (Bahrain EDB) hosted the forum. It brought together more than 200 government officials, business leaders and investors.

DHL and Capital A to Expand Aviation Services

One of the projects involves DHL. The company plans to build a regional aircraft maintenance centre at Bahrain International Airport.

The facility will be DHL’s first and only regional maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) centre. It will support the company’s growing aircraft fleet.

Meanwhile, Capital A, the parent company of AirAsia, will lead three aviation projects in Bahrain.

These projects aim to improve air links with the Far East and Europe. They will also expand cargo services and aircraft maintenance facilities.

Together, the projects could strengthen Bahrain’s role as a regional aviation hub.

New Hotel Development Planned for Amwaj Islands

The third project involves MeliĆ” and Infracorp.

The companies plan to develop a waterfront property on Amwaj Islands. It will include a five-star hotel and residences under the MeliĆ” brand.

The development aims to support Bahrain’s tourism and hospitality sectors.

Digital City Bahrain to Support Technology Growth

The fourth project is Digital City Bahrain.

It will create a new hub for information and communications technology (ICT), education and innovation.

The development aims to attract technology companies. It will also support the growth of Bahrain’s digital sector.

Bahrain Seeks More International Investment

Bahrain EDB said the country uses a public-private partnership approach called ā€œTeam Bahrainā€.

The approach brings government agencies and businesses together. It aims to make investment projects easier to develop.

The organisation also highlighted Bahrain’s focus on digital technology, business regulations and workforce development.

According to Bahrain EDB, non-oil activities account for around 86 per cent of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP).

The four projects reflect Bahrain’s efforts to grow beyond traditional industries. They also support its plans to strengthen its position as an international investment destination.
