BN, PAS to Announce Melaka Election Candidates on Saturday – Ahmad Zahid

MELAKA, Oct 22 2026 – Barisan Nasional (BN) will announce its candidates for the Melaka state election alongside PAS and its strategic partners this Saturday, said BN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Ahmad Zahid, who is also UMNO president, said BN would contest 21 seats, while PAS and its strategic partners would contest the remaining seven seats based on the agreed allocation.

He said the distribution of seats among BN component parties had been finalised based on each party’s chances of winning in the respective constituencies.

Meanwhile, Melaka Chief Minister and state BN chairman Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh has been appointed BN’s election director for the state polls, replacing UMNO deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, who has overseas commitments during the campaign period.

The Election Commission has set Nov 14 as polling day, with nomination day on Oct 31 and early voting on Nov 10.

In the 2021 Melaka state election, BN won 21 of the 28 seats, while Pakatan Harapan secured five and Perikatan Nasional won two.
