PUTRAJAYA, October 14, 2026 – Budget 2027 has received positive public feedback, reflecting the government’s efforts to engage with various groups and address their needs, Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil said.
Fahmi, who is also the MADANI Government spokesperson, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had directed ministers and the Finance Ministry to consult stakeholders, gather feedback and consider public concerns before finalising the budget.
Although the budget was not perfect, its measures had generally been well received, particularly those aimed at improving public welfare, he said at the Communications Ministry’s monthly assembly today.
Fahmi also announced that more than 38,000 taxi and school bus drivers would begin receiving a RM1,000 contribution from the Transport Ministry, funded through proceeds from the sale of a special vehicle registration number.
He welcomed the exemption of entertainment duty on tickets for local films in the Federal Territories, adding that discussions with the Malaysian Association of Film Exhibitors should continue to ensure the benefits also reach cinema-goers.
Budget 2027 was tabled in Parliament on Oct 9, outlining eight key pillars focused on improving public well-being and strengthening Malaysia’s future.
