KUALA LUMPUR, March 18, 2026 — Democratic Action Party (DAP) today commemorated its 60th anniversary, highlighting six decades of political struggle centered on democratic values, accountability, and inclusivity.
In a statement by National Chairman Gobind Singh Deo marking the milestone, party leaders reflected on DAP’s long-standing commitment to the principle that Malaysia belongs to all its citizens.
Over the years, the party said it has played a key role in strengthening democratic institutions, promoting transparency, and advocating equal opportunities across society.
DAP noted that its efforts have included defending civil liberties, pushing for institutional reforms, and amplifying the voices of ordinary Malaysians within the democratic process. The party attributed current progress—such as stronger institutions and heightened public awareness—to sustained collective action and perseverance.
Now part of Malaysia’s Unity Government, DAP emphasized its continued focus on delivering meaningful reforms rather than merely holding office. The party reiterated its goal of building a democratic, inclusive, and united nation, with shared economic growth and strengthened public trust in institutions.
Under the leadership of Secretary-General Anthony Loke Siew Fook, DAP said it would continue advancing its reform agenda with unity and determination.
Gobind Singh, who also expressed appreciation to party members and supporters for their continued commitment, calling the anniversary a moment to renew resolve for Malaysia’s future.
